Station 1600 Dedication

On Saturday August 9th the
Windsor Fire Department dedicated their station
to a very loyal, humble and honorable man.
The dedication went to none other than our very
own Deputy Chief Fred Burcham. Fred is one
of the founding members of our station. He
has been vigilantly watching over not only the
citizens of Windsor & Mason Townships, but also
the firefighters for over 40 years.
During the dedication, Fred
recounted the memories of everything from
getting out of bed at 4 o'clock in the morning
to rescue a coon dog trapped in a tree to
rescuing a cow from a tree to major structure
fires.
Fred didn't become a firefighter for any type of
glory; he didn't become a firefighter for the
adrenalin rush. Fred Burcham became not
only a firefighter but a leader because, he
loves his community and the people of it.
As our Chief, Don Christian
said during the dedication, no amount of money
can repay what Fred has done for the department
or the community - this dedication is only a
token of our love and appreciation for Fred.
The permanent bronze plaque
has been ordered, but did not arrive in time for
the ceremony. As soon as the permanent
plaque has arrived and is installed, we will
post additional pictures.
